inspiration

-a goal for myself is to hike Mt. Whitney within the next 5 years, that is if i have any control over that. You see, as mt. whitney is the highest mountain in the contiguous United states, such a superlative bestows upon it Popularity. if you are a mountain, and you are very popular, this leads to bad things like rapid erosion, potential littering, and trampling/destruction of your vegetation and swtichbacks. as a result, i believe in 2005, the forest service [i think that is who it is] began issuing limited permits on a lottery system. so, with a little luck, i hope to hike it in 5 years at the most. i don't plan to hike it in 1 day. each season, they only issue i think 100 permits for day-hikers, and 60 for overniters. so it may not happen for awhile.

-i fucking ADORE Heather Armstrong. http://dooce.com is her blog and she is wonderfully, unapolegetically, brash yet honest and intelligent sharp and hilarious. to me, she embodies womanhood.

-i am O K with my wavy ass hair. i've made amends with it, after pretty much 25 years of war. i hate how curls & waves are discriminated against. i looked in a fashion magazine recently and it was a coverage of some woman who had lost all this weight and of course, they have to give her a make over to go with that. included with her new clothing & make up was a straightening of her really beautiful curls. that incensed me.

scream queen

i've got a secret. i really want to be one of the main characters in a horror film. not necessarily the main character, because that person normally seems to survive till the completion of the film. i'd like to be one of the friends or something. i don't really know what this secret says about my inner-psyche, but who cares. it's just a thing i've had for god only knows how long. i have pretty much always had an infatuation with horror flicks- whether this is that "gore porn" that people call it, like hostel or the saw movies, or those stupid ass "scary movies" like 1 Missed Call or Black Christmas, or actually really well-done movies like the Uninvited. i thought that was a well done movie. many probably disagree.

you know how people talk about that corney "bucket list," like the list of crap they wanna do before they die? well on my bucket list is to be in a scary movie. sarah made a short-film called Attack of the Disco Zombies, and i briefly played a disco zombie, but i would really like to be in a long movie. and i'd like to be one of the people getting terrorized, rather than one of the terrorizors. that would be fun to play a character like baby firefly in the Devil's Rejects, too, though.

i just wanted to confess this secret. it's always there, but for whatever reason it was particularly on my mind this evening.
